Roland Jupiter-6

The Jupiter 6 was obtained in 1984. It is a 6 voice polyphonic analog synthesizer. Its MIDI capabilities are highly limited yet it creates some fantastic futuristic SciFi effects.

Roland Juno 106

The Juno 106 was obtained in 1995. It is a 6 voice polyphonic analog synthesizer. The standard synth for dance productions. It has a wide range of MIDI capabilities.

Yamaha Motif ES 8

The Motif is a recent acquistion. It has replaced the Roland D-70 - which was faithful for many years - the D-70's main use was as a master MIDI controller. The Motif adds a new arsenal of sounds with full weighted keys, a myriad of arpeggios and other points of creative inspirations.
Roland D-550

The D-550 was obtained in 1997. It is a 16 voice LA (Linear Arithmetic) synthesizer. An all-time favorite, just as popular today as when it first came out! This is a great synth for new and non-acoustic, percussive, ethereal and beautiful pads or sounds. This was once Roland's hottest digital synth.

Roland MKS-50

The MKS-50 is simply a rackmounted version of the Alpha Juno 2. Slightly more advanced than the keyboard version. It's used when the Juno 2 is already in use.

Roland MKS-70

The MKS-70 is a rackmounted version of the JX-10. It has 12 voice polyphony and its analog circuitry is driven by DCO oscillators. It has a very warm sound and tends to be found in many modern studios all over the world.

Roland Super JV-1080

The JV-1080 was obtained in 1995. It has 64 voice polyphony with room for 4 expansions. Apparently quite popular with many film score composers, it has everything from acoustic sounds to very fat analog sounds. The one in my studio is loaded with the "Dance, Vintage and Vocal expansions. It's no coincidence that the JV-1080 is one of the most extensively used in my studio.

Roland JP-8080

The JP-8080 a virtual analog synthesizer. Its MIDI capabilities are vast! It shows up in most songs as a fat bass line or a moog like lead riff.

Kurzweil K2000R

The K2000R uses V.A.S.T. (Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology) which allows you to take any multi-sample, noise or waveform and process it using just about any synthesis technique. Gorgeous pads and interesting LFO effects are abundant with this synth.

Quasimidi Rave-o-lution 309

The Rave-o-lution 309 has 5 part multitimbrality. Laid out as Bass Drum, Snares, Hats, Percussion and Lead sounds. I use it mostly as a drum machine and for frequency sweeping and on the fly tuning of its drum sounds.

E-mu E4XT Ultra

As E-mu's flagship sampler when obtained in 2000, this sampler is now the workhorse of my studio setup. With literally over a hundred CD-ROMs in my collection, many different genres are now at my creative disposal.

Peavey PC-1600x

The 1600x is not really a synthesizer per say, but rather, a MIDI Controller. However, because it controls many aspects of all the synths in real time it is an essential piece within the studio setup.

DigiDesign MIDI I/O

These MIDI I/Os are two pieces of equipment that are not actually synthesizers but not really outboards either. They are in a sense however the heart of the studio. These two guys are the components that are the MIDI patchbay. All synths are routed through them - each with their own I/O ports.

One MIDI I/O has 10 MIDI ports and each port routes 16 channels of MIDI information. These two units are now giving the studio a whopping 320 channels of MIDI!

If you bring your own MIDI capable devices into the studio you can rest assured that it will have its own ports as well. A big time saver.

Apple Macintosh Dual 1.25gHz G4

The Mac is the core of the studio with lots of power to handle digital audio. The unit has 1 Gig of RAM and runs on Mac OSX 10.3.3 (Also 9.2.2). An extensive list of software is available on the computer plus CD-ROM or DVD-R burning.

My Ensoniq P.A.R.I.S. rig is now a thing of the past. It has now been replaced with the industry standard - DigiDesign's Pro Tools|HD. The studio is now running on an HD 2 system, running through two 192 I/Os and a Command|8 as the control surface.

Avalon VT-737sp

There are two of these in the studio. They are Class-A tube compressors/equalizers used by a myriad of high-end studios. They create an extremely warm and rich tone.
Lexicon MPX-1

The MPX-1 is an outboard effects processor that gives classic Lexicon reverbs and delays. This specific unit is also MIDI equipped. Which of course means that effect changes can be done on the fly within the computer's sequencer program.

Genelec 1031A

These are the most powerful reference monitors possible for the studio space. No matter what you hear, you'll love it! They do give a sweeting effect so the Alesis Monitors below are used in conjunction.

Genelec 7070A

Killer lows are heard crystal clear with this kicking subwoofer! 250W extending all the way down to 19hz for true clarity in the LFE tracks or those low booming 808 kick drums.

Alesis Monitor One

These guys aren't going to give you pretty. They will instead give you the dirt. They are used in conjunction with the Genelecs to just make sure the mix is stable. Pretty much bare bones, common denominator.
